Welcome
to the Group Analytic Society (Sydney) Inc. Web Page
The Group Analytic Society (Sydney) Inc.
(GASS) was founded in 1986 by locally based, London-trained Group Analysts. The aims of
GASS are:
to promote and develop Group Analysis as
a treatment, prevention and science; and to foster the application of group analytic
principles in the wider social context;
to advance group analysis through study,
research and teaching;
to provide advisory services, lectures
and publications on group analysis; and
to institute a formal training programme
in Group Analysis.
GASS is a non-profit organisation,
comprising both local and national members, which works to promote group analysis
generally and to provide service and information to members and those interested in the
clinical, organisational and sociological aspects of groups.
The Society is run by a Executive Committee
which meets quarterly.
A formal training in analytically oriented group
psychotherapy is still in the preliminary stages of development by a GASS Sub-Committee - IGASS (Institute of Group Analysis - Sydney). Extensive work
is being done to foster interest in such training as well as establish the formal networks
both within Australia and internationally to ensure it can be properly resourced. GASS
welcomes indications of interest in such training.
